The finest Smoky Quartz comes from Scotland (where it's the national gemstone), Brazil, and the Swiss Alps. Note: Very dark or black Smoky Quartz (sometimes called Morion) is often artificially irradiated — natural Smoky Quartz ranges from light grey to deep brown and is always translucent.
