Red Tiger Eye is typically natural Tiger Eye that has been gently heated to enhance or shift its color toward red-brown tones. Some Red Tiger Eye occurs naturally through oxidation of the iron within the stone. Like all Tiger Eye, it forms through the pseudomorphic replacement of crocidolite fibers with silica, and its chatoyant shimmer is caused by light reflecting off those parallel fibers. Major sources include South Africa and Western Australia.
